I dedicate this blog to the heroes of the Bible Joshua & Caleb because in Numbers 14:1-12 out of the 12 spies sent to spy out the land of Canaan only two (Joshua & Caleb) were on the side of God. This is pretty much the state of the church today; in particular where men are in involved. The church has been completely feminized since the late 19th century and masculine men no longer feel comfortable in a church that is wholly catering by and large to women in their 30-40’s and to small children. Few churches have an effective outreach to men within their communities. The population demographic least likely to attend church are young men in the age range of 18-35. Every denomination has a gender gap in church attendance with 60-70% being female and roughly 30% being men. Of the men who do attend church regularly, they fall into one of four categories.
1.) They are homosexuals (believe it or not gay men are very drawn to liberal churches).
2.) They are weak, soft, passive, effeminate men. These would be the vast kinds of men who become pastors and church leaders, and I know this because I was surrounded by them in seminary. Also, these are the men most comfortable in today’s feminized evangelical churches. They simply relate better to women than they do tough masculine men. From hence forward I will refer to these men as “geldings” because their balls have been cut off.
3.) These would be your average (masculine) man who was dragged to church by his wife but who in reality does not want to be there because these men cannot relate the feminine nature of today’s church. You can easily spot them because they are constantly looking at their watches.
4.) These are sexual predators, these men know that there are more women than men at the church and they go there to find a mate and nothing more.
Thank God that a new generation of Christian leaders are arising to return the church to its masculine roots. These would be men like John Eldredge, Stu Webber, Mark Driscoll, Kenny Luck, Leon Poddles, and David Murrow. But what has been the overall response of the church in regards to these men? For the most part it has been hostility, but the good news is that these men are having an impact and we are slowly starting to see a shift in the evangelical community concerning this issue. These men like Joshua & Caleb although while faithful to God they are in the minority. The feminized church must been rooted out and masculine men need to be brought back in if the church is going to change our culture for God’s kingdom, thus far the church has been a colossal failure in this regard for over the last hundred years or so. It is time for the geldings to find new careers. I will continue to adress this issue and other issues concerning the church on this blog, we need radical changes in the church if we want to expand The Kingdom of Heaven in our present time.
